God Watching

I never wanted to have children before i met Randi.  I don't know if it was due to immaturity, knowing that having kids with the girl I had previously dated would turn into a chaotic disaster, or a combination of the two; but i knew that I did not want to have children.  Yet now that i have been a dad for five years, i cannot imagine life any other way.  As a parent, I receive more enjoyment from watching Rachel do something  than if had I done it myself.  I wonder:  Do you think that's the kind of enjoyment God experiences as he watches us?

Possibly. I like to think that it's more that he uses human relationships (such as the parent-child relationship and the husband-wife relationship) as one form in which he gives us a fuller understanding of himself.

I believe that God's sense of fulfillment/joy/happiness (or whatever other term we'd use to characterize the satisfaction of God) is not compromised or affected by us in the truest sense. Our choice to be in relationship with him or not doesn't change who he is. But somehow, the relationship between us and him is significant. I haven't been able to understand that dynamic.

Still, aren't you glad that God uses our life situations to speak to us and make his character known? :)

I think God must view us in that way. There's no deeper love than that. I agree with Catherine that God uses relationships in our life to help us better understand him. Relationships are, after all, the best part of life.
