Taiwan

I’m an evangelist at heart.  There is nothing that I enjoy more than presenting the gospel in such a way that, with the Holy Spirit’s help, brings people to the foot of the cross.  One of the most influential books I have ever read is Billy Graham’s book, Just As I Am.  Early in his ministry, Billy wondered why more people weren’t coming to Christ when he preached.  Then someone told Billy Graham to preach the cross.  After that, there was no looking back.

I will be flying to Taiwan in October to give a series of chapel addresses at Christ’s College in Taipei.  I’ve spoken in chapels before, speaking to thousands at a time, sharing the impact Jesus Christ has made on my life and then inviting others to allow Christ to do the same for them.  The uniqueness of this trip, though, is that out of a student body of 700 students, most are nonbelievers!  What an opportunity!

I’ve been told that one of the biggest obstacles to students coming to Christ is the cultural barrier of needing to save face.  And who does God send?  Me, a fifty year old man with a very visible disability!  Listen, folks!  If you have cerebral palsy, being able to save face is not an option!  Losing face comes with the territory!

Why is that so important?  Because, you cannot come to Christ and save face at the same time.  It can’t be done!  The only way to come to Christ is by recognizing that you are a sinner and trusting in the God/man who went to the cross!  That, in a nutshell, is the message I’m bringing to the students at Christ’s College in October!
