Rick & Bubba's Guide to the Almost Nearly Perfect Marriage

As someone who loves to read, I picked up Rick Burgess and Bill Bussey' book Guide to the Almost  Nearly Perfect Marriage on a lark, expecting some light reading and a few good laughs.  I was not disappointed.  The authors' humorous and light-hearted look at marriage dissects some very real issues faced by couples today.  No couple is immune from the slippery slope that leads away from emotional intimacy.  By allowing us, the reader, to laugh with them, the authors, at some of their embarrassing matrimonial mistakes, they provide glimpses into some of the do's and dont's every couple should know.  If this book was only a book of comedy, it would still be a book worth reading.  However, the book goes beyond comedy and is intermitently
sprinkled with the profound. "Show us a good marriage," the authors write, "and we'll show you a union of two good forgivers." (p69)  And, the nuggets of truth found in just the last couple chapters of the book are worth the price of the book alone.
